The Opportunity

As a member of the Aerospace Division Engineering Team the successful applicant will be involved in the end-to-end design, manufacture and installation of Airborne Role Equipment to meet the specific needs of our customers. As part of a small and capable team, the role will also require involvement in concept development, design for manufacturability, continuous improvement of production processes as well as involvement in quality functions. Applicants will be considered for either a Full Time or Part Time role.

Key Accountabilities

The role will include:

  • Precise component production using manual machining (lathe/mill)
  • CNC Router operation, preferably to include CAM programming
  • Edge finishing, drilling and countersinking
  • Application of surface treatments
  • Quality inspection of outsourced components
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Machine shop tooling and equipment management
  • Maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to quality management procedures

Qualifications and Technical Skills

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current recognised qualifications with demonstrated 5 years’ experience in manual machining with the ability to work autonomously
  • Fluent, precise and clear communication skill
  • Competent in the interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of speeds, feeds and tooling to achieve accurate and efficient results in aluminium, steels and plastics
  • Competent in the use of precision measuring equipment and component inspection/reporting
  • An ability to understand and work to stringent quality standards

Desirable Qualifications/Education/Training:

  • Manufacturing experience within the aviation industry
  • CNC Router/Mill experience
  • Experience with modern CAD and CAM Tools
  • The ability to obtain, maintain and hold an Australian Government Security Clearance
