The Opportunity

Systems Engineering Consultants of the Omni Executive Consulting Division provide embedded, specialised, knowledge-based services to the Defence, the Australian Government and industry clients. The Systems Engineering Consultant is provided to the client on a contractual basis and is responsible for the full execution of the Statement of Work agreed within that contract. The role of Systems Engineer within Consulting Division while responsible to the client for the quality and the extent of the contracted work, within Omni the Consultant reports to a designated Manager within the Consulting Division Management Team.

The role will include:

  • Deliver the agreed scope of work to the satisfaction of the client
  • Monitor, manage and maintain positive client sentiment
  • Manage time and resources to enable efficient completion of the required tasks
  • Proactively promote the physical and mental health and safety of all team members
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate or manage risks to the delivery of service in accordance with the Omni Risk Management Framework
  • Identify and evaluate business development opportunities and employment candidates
  • Complete client and corporate administrative requirements in a timely manner

The Ideal Candidate

Systems Engineers employed by Omni Executive Consulting Division will hold the position of either Professional Services Consultant, Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant aligned to qualifications, demonstrated experience and the role offered under the employment contract. Each employee will possess a combination of qualifications and skill sets that enable them to fulfill their obligation in the performance of their contracted role.

Essential

  • A tertiary Systems Engineering qualification
  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering experience in complex technological environments
  • Experience with systems engineering and all stages of the engineering lifecycle
  • Experience working with large scale distributed communications systems
  • Formal training and certification in a recognised Project Management methodology, such as Agile, Prince2, or PMBOK
  • Demonstrated experience is supporting complex technological projects
  • Experience with the One Defence Capability Framework and Processes
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing Operational Concept Documents and Functional Performance Specifications and other related engineering documentation
  • Hold and maintain a AGSVA Negatively Vetted Security Clearance or higher
  • Competence in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to maintain positive and effective stakeholder relationships at all levels
  • Experience in effective communication with technical staff across multiple disciplines
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence, present, effectively negotiate, and lead and effect change
  • Strong written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise project documentation and technical reports
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in Commonwealth, State or Commercial environments
