An experienced VMWare System Engineer is required to provide server infrastructure design and implementation services in a key capability domain. The business environment is in a complex, emerging domain and operates at a rapid pace.

The successful candidate will need highly developed VMware skills, system design and implementation skills and a proven ability to work within an integrated team of technical and non-technical personnel.

A security clearance will not be required to apply however the preferred applicant will be required to successfully undergo the security clearance vetting process at the TSPV level. They will also be required to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the technical design and implementation of VMware technologies using SDDC, Horizon and other similar technologies.
  • Integrate VMware technologies with Microsoft technologies, Microsoft Server Suites and Active Directory.
  • Produce designs and implement private and public clouds.
  • Integrate COTS products to produce business outcomes at multiple security classifications.
  • Work with VMware products such as vSPhere, ESXi, NSX, VSAN, vRealize suite and Horizon View and integrate them with various operating environments.
  • Identify security risks and vulnerabilities and work with the security practitioner to implement ISM controls to mitigate those risks.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Successful completion of the OSA and security clearance process.
  • Experience in complex ICT network design and maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years in a VMWare System Engineer role
  • Relevant qualifications and training

Desirable

  • Communicates fluently, orally and in writing, and can present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work, including building and configuration of infrastructure components in virtualised environments
  • Work with VMware products such as vSPhere, ESXi, NSX, VSAN, vRealize suite and Horizon View
  • Reviews others’ systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology.
  • Provides specialist guidance and advice to less experience colleagues to ensure best use is made of available assets, and to maintain or improve the installation service.
